Blow
Ernesto NetoBlow is a retrospective with more than 80 works done by the distinguished Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto (Rio de Janeiro, 1964), which are displayed in the two large rooms and in the main hall of CCLM with a playful and participatory journey through pieces of different formats along with huge immersive sculptures. In his work, closely linked to the work he carries out with the Amazonian communities, Neto investigates ancestral practices and knowledge to present us, through collaborative work, new realities and possibilities for contemporary art and its correlation to heritage.
Neto, heir to the revolutionary Brazilian plastic regarding the body, considers expanding the limits of perception. In his works he combines lycras, corks, spices such as cloves and saffron, and natural elements such as sand,in order to create scenes that invite us to reflect on our position as human beings in relation to other living beings, our undeniable tendency to be in relationship with others and our harmony with what is different and with nature.
